Voom doesn't process payments or hold your money. You arrange the fuel with your driver directly — cash or however suits you both. The only thing Voom charges is a small booking fee for passengers; organisers pay nothing for now.
Everyone on Voom has a profile with ratings and reviews. You see who's driving, what car, and how past riders rated them before you request a seat, and you can share your trip with friends along the way.
